Halloween Knit Beanie

Poison apples seem to be quite popular this Halloween season. I’ve seen them popping up left and right at craft shows and online.

There is one thing all the apples I have seen have in common… they are all crocheted. I wanted to create a knit version, but while going through the design process was inspired to make a hat instead.

Get creative with your colors and I hope you enjoy knitting this hat as much as I did!

Pattern Notes:

  • Hat is knit flat from the brim up and seamed after completed. Pattern is suitable for a beginner looking to expand into simple colorwork.

  • Pattern can easily be knit in the round if you prefer to do it that way.

  • When following the chart, pattern starts on the bottom right with a knit row.

  • The colors I used are listed below but any worsted weight yarn can be used.

  • Hat is sized for an adult and is slightly slouchy.

  • Gauge for a 4in x 4in is 17 sts x 23 rows

Supplies:

  • US 8 (5.00mm) straight knitting needles

  • 1 skein of Red Heart Super Saver Black for Main Color

  • 1 skein of Red Heart Super Saver Purple for Contrast Color

  • Yarn needle
