Pocket shawls are just exploding lately. They are definitely the popular make for this summer/fall season and I expect they will continue in popularity throughout this holiday season as well.

When Kristen decided to hop on the pocket shawl band wagon she found there weren’t really a lot of knit patterns out there yet, most of them were crochet. Kristen wanted something very simple and easy to work on throughout her busy day, yet fun and full of texture. And so the Wandering Woods Pocket Shawl was born! With 5 sections and alternating stitch patterns, this pattern keeps you engaged. You won’t get bored knitting this because as soon as you start to get bored, the stitch pattern changes in the next section. All the stitches are just combinations of knit and purl, so this is still a great project for a beginner who is ready to branch out beyond basic garter or stockinette stitch.

Kristen decided to go with Lion Brand Yarns Low Tide yarn for this shawl. The texture allowed for a light somewhat airy fabric which makes this shawl just right for a chilly summer night around the campfire, or a brisk autumn day. The knit fabric is also pretty stretchy which makes for a perfect comfortably wrapped shawl!

To knit this shawl you’ll need:

US 8 5.0mm Knitting Needles (you can use straight or circular needles, pattern is knit back and forth)

Approximately 1530 yards of Lion Brand Low Tide Yarn – we used color driftwood, or any worsted weight yarn can be substituted for this project
