As some of you may know, Kristen recently published her Wandering Woods Knit Pocket Shawl pattern for sale in our Etsy shop and we were so surprised by the excitement over it! Well I was lucky enough to be the recipient of the shawl she made while developing that pattern and I have to say that when I first saw these pocket shawls growing in popularity, I honestly didn’t care for them that much and I didn’t understand the hype. They look really nice but didn’t seem very useful to me… why not just wear a hoodie? But I. Was. Wrong! I take that Wandering Woods Shawl Kristen made with me most places. It’s the perfect thing to grab real quick if it is getting chilly later at night. And since I am still working at home and my wardrobe largely consists of comfy shorts and tanks… the pockets are a huge bonus!
So that got me thinking a little and as Kristen’s birthday was coming up I realized I wanted to make her a pocket shawl, partly because I knew she needed one but also as kind of a congratulations on the success of her Wandering Woods pattern.
I needed to make sure it fit her personality though… and so was born the Crochet Crafty Bitch Pocket Shawl. Don’t get me wrong, Kristen is absolutely the nicest and most selfless person you’ll ever meet. But bitch is a word that floats around pretty freely in our family of four sisters, in a friendly/funny way (we all get along). The very first thing that popped into my head was to have the words “Crafty Bitch” sprawled out right across the back of her shawl. So I went with it. Perfect.
