Basic Coffee Cozy

The perfect project to use up leftover yarn we all have but don’t know what to do with. These coffee cozies are quick to knit and make great gifts for any coffee lover.

Supplies:

  • US #7 (4.5 mm) straight knitting needles

  • Worsted weight yarn of choice

  • Yarn Needle 

Pattern Notes:

  • Cozy is knit from the bottom up in one piece and seamed.

  • Finished size 4 1/4 in. wide x 3 1/2 in. tall

  • Each cozy takes less than 20 yards of yarn

  • Gauge for a 4x4 square was 18 stitches x 25 rows

Abbreviations:

K - Knit P - Purl sts. - stitches

Kf&b - knit into the front and back of the same stitch

Pattern:

Cast on 34 sts.

Row 1-3: (K1,P1) repeat to the end of the row

Row 4: Kf&b, knit to the last stitch, Kf&b (36 sts.)

Row 5: Purl

Row 6: Knit

Rows 7-14: Repeat rows 5 & 6 four more times

Row 15: Purl

Row 16: Kf&b, knit to the last stitch, Kf&b (38 sts.)

Row 17-19: (k1, P1) repeat to the end of the row

Bind off

Finishing:

Fold the cozy in half, sew up the seam, weave in your ends and enjoy.
