Little Carrot Pouch

The Little Carrot Pouch makes the perfect edition to any Easter basket.

Supplies:

  • US #7 (4.5 mm) straight knitting needles

  • Worsted weight yarn of choice in Orange and Green

  • Yarn Needle 

Pattern Notes:

Carrot is knit from the bottom up in one piece and seamed.

7 in. long x 2 3/4in. wide at the opening

Abbreviations:

K - Knit sts - stitches yo - yarn over

Kf&b - knit into the front and back of the same stitch

K2tog - knit 2 stitches together

Pattern:

With Orange cast on 5 sts

Row 1: Purl

Row 2: Knit

Row 3: Purl

Row 4: Kf&b, knit to the last stitch, Kf&b (7sts)

Repeat rows 1-4 until you have 23 sts

Row 37: Purl

Change to Green

Row 38: K1, (yo, K2tog) repeat to the end of the row (23 sts)

Row 39: Purl

Row 40: Knit

Row 41: Purl

Row 42: Knit

Row 43: Purl

Bind off

Finishing:

Fold the carrot in half and seam down the side. For the drawstring I crocheted a 12 inch chain. Weave the chain through the eyelet holes and knot at the end. You could also substitute an i-cord or ribbon for the drawstring. Weave in ends and fill with little candies or toys.
