Christmas Tree Cake

Need a quick Christmas knit? Look no further, we have you covered! These cute little trees are just what you need.

Supplies:

US #6 (4.0mm) straight knitting needles

  • Worsted weight yarn of choice, I used:

Red Heart Super Saver in White
Red Heart Super Saver in Paddy Green 
Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red 

  • Fiberfill Stuffing

  • Yarn Needle 

Pattern Notes:

Tree is knit from the top down.  Gauge is not important for this project.  Finished size is 4 ¼ in. tall and 3 in. wide.

Abbreviations:

K - Knit Kf&b - Knit into the front and the back of the same stitch sts. - Stitches

Pattern: (Make 2)

Cast on 3 sts.

Row 1: Purl

Row 2: Kf&b, K1, Kf&b (5 sts.)

Row 3: Purl

Row 4: Kf&b, K3, Kf&b (7 sts.)

Row 5: Purl

Row 6: Kf&b, K5, Kf&b (9 sts.)

Row 7: Purl

Row 8: Kf&b, K7, Kf&b (11 sts.)

Row 9: Bind off the first 2 sts. purlwise, purl to the end (9 sts.)

Row 10: Bind off the first 2 sts. knitwise, knit to the end (7 sts.) 

Row 11: Purl

Row 12: Kf&b, K5, Kf&b (9 sts.)

Row 13: Purl

Row 14: Kf&b, K7, Kf&b (11 sts.)

Row 15: Purl

Row 16: Kf&b, K9, Kf&b (13 sts.)

Row 17: Bind off the first 2 sts. purlwise, purl to the end (11 sts.)

Row 18: Bind off the first 2 sts. knitwise, knit to the end (9 sts.)

Row 19: Purl

Row 20: Kf&b, K7, Kf&b (11 sts.)

Row 21: Purl

Row 22: Kf&b, K9, Kf&b (13 sts.)

Row 23: Purl

Row 24: Kf&b, K11, Kf&b (15 sts.)

Row 25: Bind off the first 4 sts. purlwise, purl to the end (11 sts.)

Row 26: Bind off the first 4 sts. knitwise, knit to the end (7 sts.)

Row 27: Purl

Row 28: Knit 

Row 29: Bind off purlwise

Finishing:

You will only add details to one side of the tree. Use my picture as a guide for where to put your frosting and sprinkles. Don’t worry if your details aren’t exactly like mine, the real cakes aren’t all the same either! Use red to duplicate stitch frosting lines and use green to stitch sprinkles all over the tree. Seam the two trees together. I found seaming the 2 sides then stuffing and seaming the bottom closed worked best for me.
